On December 30, 2019, BJAST held a commendation forum on "Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of New China and Advanced Individuals of Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition". Fang Li, Secretary of Party Committee, attended and addressed, and Guo Guangsheng, President of the Academy, presented awards to advanced personal representatives. 42 advanced individuals in our Academy were awarded, including 28 advanced individuals for the Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of New China and 14 advanced individuals for the Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition.

Fang Li pointed out that Beijing, the capital, was responsible and obligated to the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China and the Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition. Meanwhile, he put forward three requirements on behalf of the Party Committee of the Academy. Firstly, effectively transform the precious spiritual wealth formed by the celebrations into a powerful driving force for the development of the capital and the technological innovation of BJAST Secondly, correctly understand and grasp the responsibilities of the capital. Thirdly, cherish the honor. Take honor and responsibility as the guiding light of progress, and strive hard to make our Academy become an international first-class research institution with high status in Beijing, typical features in China, and great influence in the world".

Guo Guangsheng encouraged the advanced individuals to take this commendation as a new starting point, continue to work hard in their respective posts, realize new achievements and make new contributions.

Three representatives of advanced individuals respectively introduced the main contributions made at the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China and the Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition, and the outstanding achievements made by the team's scientific research achievements used in the two national events, demonstrating that the scientific and technological workers of the BJAST strive for the country and hone for innovation and achievements.
