On December 25, Beijing Radiation Center was honored at the "Commendation Ceremony of the Indoor Exhibition Competition of the International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 Beijing China" held by Beijing Gardening and Greening Bureau. This ceremony was held to commend the Beijing Radiation Center for displaying flowers and plants in many venues of the Exhibition. A total of five awards were granted in the Exhibition Competition to the Radiation Center from the Exhibition, including two silver medals and two bronze medals in the Indoor Exhibition Competition of China's Provinces (Districts and Cities) and one bronze medal in the Indoor Exhibition Competition of Colleges and Universities and Scientific Research Institutes. All these represented a gift of BJAST and the Beijing Radiation Center to celebrate the 70^th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China added splendor and luster to the International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 Beijing China.

In order to fully get involved in and contribute to the International Horticultural Exhibition, BJAST has provided strong support for projects, labs and bases, and the Beijing Radiation Center has given meticulous guidance to the horticultural team. Since 2016, the team has kept exchanges and cooperation with the organizers of the International Horticultural Exhibition, focused on greening and beautifying of the capital and provided a guarantee for breeding and selection of exhibits and the exhibition to provide strong support for the Exhibition. The lilium regale wilson, a rare plant in China provided by the team, represented a highlight of in the exhibition area of China Pavilion. Special thanks were given to the Beijing Radiation Center of BJAST at the "Rare Plants Exhibition with Chinese Characteristics" of China Pavilion.

In order to select a batch of new Lilium germplasm integrating the excellent characters of wild lilies and lily varieties in China, the horticultural team of the Beijing Radiation Center has made a new breakthrough in breeding technology by combining radiation mutation and traditional hybridization technology. The self-bred "Flowers & Stars" and "Summer Romance" were given one silver medal and one bronze medal. Besides, 300-plus good varieties of Lilium including "Xiumoke" and "Fulanshi" were selected and displayed in Beijing Pavilion and the outdoor exhibition area, delivering a cool and refreshing atmosphere for the International Horticultural Exhibition held in summer.
