On March 21, China Youth Science Center of the China Association for Science and Technology and the China Association of Children’s Science Instructors visited the Beijing Planetarium to conduct research and exchange discussions on youth science and education cooperation. The research was led by Wu Xiangping, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, researcher of the National Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and associate president of the China Association of Children’s Science Instructors, and Xin Bing, director of the China Youth Science Center, Secretary of the leading Party Committee and executive vice president of the China Association of Children’s Science Instructors. Wu Jianmin, deputy secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group and President of the BJAST, attended the meeting.

The meeting was presided over by Wang Xiaofeng, Director of the Beijing Planetarium. Wang Xiaofeng introduced the development of science and education activities of the planetarium, put forward the possible cooperation between the planetarium and China Youth Science Center of the China Association for Science and Technology and the China Association of Children’s Science Instructors in the research and development of astronomy courses in primary and secondary schools, the national astronomy knowledge competition for middle school students, astronomy teacher training, school telescope complementary teaching courses and the construction of software and hardware standards, and suggested that all parties can cooperate on the basis of joint cooperation, actively promote astronomy to play a unique role in the education of cultivating young people's spirit of scientific exploration.

Under the background of easing the burden of excessive homework and off-campus tutoring for students undergoing compulsory education, all parties seek to actively promote the integration of scientific research, science popularization and high-quality social resources, promote coordinated development, and jointly build a sharing platform for young people's science and education resources, which has played a positive role in paving the way for the in-depth development of astronomy science popularization education in primary and secondary schools and the whole society.
