In July 2019, the "Horizon 2020" Project of the Air Quality: Worldwide Analysis and Forecasting of Atmospheric Composition for Health (AQ-WATCH) undertaken by the Beijing Municipal Institute of Labour Protection, Beijing Computing Center and another 10 international top teams from Europe, America and Middle East was founded by the EU. The kick-off meeting of the project was held in Max Planck Institute for Astronomy, Hamburg, Germany on February 11-12, 2020. Affected by the COVID-19, Dan Mo, the research fellow of the Beijing Municipal Institute of Labour Protection and Liu Tong, the Director of the Beijing Computing Center remotely participated in the kick-off meeting via the video conference.
Led by the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy, Germany, and under the leadership of Mr. Guy P. Brasseur, the atmospheric scientist who won the Nobel Prize, the AQ-WATCH project will apply the technical achievement of EU Copernicus Project to develop and research 7 management products and services including the global / regional air quality atlas within 3 years under the support of 12 top research institutions from Europe, America and China, and such management products and services will be piloted in the US, Chile and China, and will provide technical support for improving air quality in different regions of the world.
