From October 28 to 30, the 35^th Joint Conference of Presidents and Secretaries of the Provinces (Municipalities and Autonomous Regions) Academies of Sciences and the 8^th Conference of the Council of the National Academy of Sciences Alliance was held in Jinan City, Shandong Province. Fang Li, Secretary of Party Committee and Shao Jinwen, Vice President and other members of our Academy's delegation attended the conference.

At the opening ceremony of the conference, the launching ceremony of the National Advanced Materials Industry Alliance of the Local Academies of Sciences and the Scientific Computing Industry Alliance of the Local Academies of Sciences was held. As one of the main sponsors of the alliance, our Academy sent Fang Li, Secretary of Party Committee to attend the launching ceremony and unveil the alliance.

At the following Joint Conference of Presidents and Secretaries, 18 local Academies of Sciences across the country held in-depth discussions and exchanges on the theme of "scientific and technological innovation leads regional development". Vice President Shao Jinwen made a report on behalf of our Academy, Deepening Reform and Innovation to Promote the National and Regional Strategy. In the report, he pointed out the mission of local research institutes in the new era, introduced the practical experience of the reform and exploration of the BJAST, and put forward some ideas on how local research institutes can play a greater role from three aspects: enhancing strategic thinking, planning strategic development and seizing strategic opportunities.

It was believed at the conference that the local academies of sciences throughout the country have similar historical evolution, needs, linked development interests, and exchanges and cooperation have always been an unchanged theme.

During the conference, the Council Meeting of the National Advanced Materials Industry Alliance of the Local Academies of Sciences and the Scientific Computing Industry Alliance of the Local Academies of Sciences was also held to discuss and adopt the constitution of the alliance, the Executive Committee and the Secretariat of the Alliances, and exchange information on platform construction, project cooperation, achievement transformation, resource sharing, etc.
