• President Guo Guangsheng Led the Team to Attend the Fifth World Conference on Risk

  • From May 6 to 8, the Fifth World Conference on Risk, sponsored by the Society for Risk Analysis (SRA), was held at Cape Town International Conference Center, South Africa. At the invitation of Professor Aleksandar Jovanovic, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and member of the Executive Committee of the Conference, Guo Guangsheng, President of the BJAST, served as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Conference and led the team to attend and report.

    The conference is composed of 3 themes, 9 reports, 48 themes, reports from more than 100 branch conference places and 121 poster presentations, focusing on "development and resilience" to promote dialogue and exchanges on global stakeholder related risk issues. Guo Guangsheng was invited to give a report on "Science and Technology Makes Cities Safer", introducing the developing Beijing and the research achievements and applications of BJAST in urban safety and risk, urban operation, social governance and services. Experts and scholars from the United States, Japan and Australia highly praised the efforts made by the BJAST in urban risk and resilience research and social governance services, and expressed their willingness to cooperate with the BJAST.

    As one of the support units of the conference, we co-sponsored a sub-forum with Steinbeis Advanced Risk Technology Co., Ltd. of Germany, our relevant personnel of the Center for Urban Safety and Governance Innovation made a report and shared the achievements in the field of urban risk assessment.

    On May 8th, President Guo Guangsheng signed a letter of intent on behalf of the BJAST  with the head of the Steinbeis Advanced Risk Technology Co., Ltd., the two sides reached a cooperation intention on establishing the "one belt and one way" risk research center, and the chairman of the international risk association, and had a discussion and exchange with Professor Katherine A.McComas of Cornell University, Professor James H. Lamber University of University of Virginia and Professor Aleksandar Jovanovic of Steinbeis Advanced Risk Technology Co., Ltd. of Germany.
