Recently, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission issued a notice agreeing to the construction of the Beijing Laboratory of Carbon Neutral System Engineering. The laboratory is led by Beijing Institute of Technology, and jointly established by BJAST, Beijing Technology and Business University, Beijing Academy of Ecological and Environmental Protection Sciences and other units. Professor Wei Yiming, Vice President of Beijing Institute of Technology, served as the director of the laboratory.

Facing the national carbon neutrality strategy, the world's frontier of science and technology, and Beijing's green and low-carbon transformation needs, the Beijing laboratory will focus on the research directions of carbon neutrality complex system modeling in the capital metropolitan area, low-carbon and safe transformation of energy supply, industrial and building energy conservation and smart transportation, and carbon-negative technology research and development and industrial layout, so as to serve the green and low-carbon development of the capital and carbon peak and carbon neutrality.

Since 2012, the construction of Beijing laboratories has been initiated, and a total of 20 laboratories have been approved for construction. Facing the needs of the national economic development of the country and the capital, integrating advantageous resources and strengthening collaborative innovation, Beijing Laboratory is an important platform for Beijing universities to undertake major tasks of the country and Beijing, organize high-level scientific research, support high-level discipline construction, cultivate high-level innovative talents, and carry out high-level academic cooperation and exchanges.
