From September 24th to October 2nd, Zhao Dongyao and Fang Yuanyuan of Beijing Planetarium served as team leaders, leading 5 junior students from 3 provinces and cities across the country to participate in the 2nd International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad (junior group) in Volos, Greece. About 55 participants from 13 countries participated in the competition.

As the only authorized institution in China, the Beijing Planetarium has organized and participated in the International Astronomical Olympiad every year. This is the first time that the planetarium has led a team to participate in the IOAA-Jr. During the competition, under unfavorable conditions such as water and power outages in the city, the two team leaders completed all the translation work, ensuring the smooth progress of the students' exams, and ensuring the accuracy of the students' scores in the subsequent scoring and debate process. In the end, with the joint efforts of the team leader and students, the Chinese team played well in this IOAA-Jr and won 1 gold medal and 4 silver medals.
