On June 5, 2023, the National Natural History Museum of China was officially inaugurated in Beijing, marking a new page in the development of China's natural history museums.

The National Natural History Museum of China is the only national-level and comprehensive natural history museum in China, representing the national protection, research, collection, interpretation and display of natural objects and natural heritage with historical, scientific and artistic value in the process of human social development.

The National Natural History Museum of China will take the unveiling as a new starting point, base itself on the world, and strive to become a new model for the protection of world natural cultural heritage, a new platform for cultivating guardians of the earth's home, a major landmark for practicing ecological civilization construction, and a new window for displaying China's international exchanges and the image of a major country. At the same time, it will also take the lead in the whole country, become a new bridge linking China's natural history museum industry and the world natural history museum industry, a large classroom for natural science education and lifelong learning for all people, a new benchmark for the standardized construction of China's nature museums, and a leader in the integrated development of culture and tourism.
