The Party School of the Central Committee of CPC (National Academy of Governance) is a school where the Party Central Committee trains intermediate and senior leaders and cadres, outstanding young and middle-aged cadres across the country. It is a key base for studying and promoting the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, advancing the Party’s ideological and theoretical construction, also a research institute for the Party’s and national philosophy and social sciences studies and a new high-end think tank with Chinese characteristics which is directly affiliated with the Central Committee of CPC.

The Party School of the Central Committee was formerly known as Marx’s Communism School, which was established at Ruijin, the Revolutionary Base of the Central Committee of CPC, in March 1933.

After arriving in northern Shaanxi with the Long March by the Chinese Red Army in 1935, the school was renamed the Party School of the Central Committee of CPC.

The preparations for the establishment of the National Academy of Governance started from 1988 and wasn’t officially founded until 1994, with main responsibility of training intermediate and senior civil servants, senior management professionals and policy study professionals.

In March 2018, in accordance with the unified deployment of the CPC Central Committee on deepening the reform of the Party and state organs, a new Party School of the Central Committee (National Academy of Governance) was established and endowed with two titles.

The establishment of the new Party School (National Academy of Governance) started a new chapter for the development of the school (academy).

The Department of Scientific Research consists of seven offices, including the General Office, Scientific Research Planning Office, Scientific Research Management Office, Scientific Research Collaboration Office, Central Research Office, Think Tank Management Office, and Internal Reference Editorial Office.

The Department of Scientific Research is responsible for orchestrating the school’s scientific research plans, organizing, managing, and coordinating scientific research activities, managing scientific research funding and scientific research archives; and is responsible for the application and management of the National Social Science Fund Projects of the Central Committee and state agencies in Beijing;

responsible for the management of the research center for the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the management of the research center for the system of socialist theories with Chinese characteristics; responsible for organizing the evaluation and publicity of scientific research results, providing scientific research information consultation; responsible for the specific work of high-end think tanks and decision-making consultations;

responsible for the compilation of “Research Report”, “Submission”, “Ideological and Theoretical Internal Reference” and other internal journals; responsible for the management of the associations and off-staff research centers affiliated to the school (academy); responsible for organizing systematic scientific research collaboration of the Party Schools (Academies of Governance)  and providing instructions for the scientific research work of the national Party schools (Academies of Governance).
