  • On May 12, BJAST International Forum Session III of "The Coronavirus Pandemic & Global Changes" held on the platform of bilibili. The lecture was hosted by Li Junkai, Director of Foreign Cooperation Division of BJAST. Professor Zhang Jiawei, Principal Researcher of the Grizzly Bear Institute of Canada and researcher of the Institute of Strategic Research, Peking University, was invited to give a special lecture on "The 'Crisis' and 'Opportunity' under the COVID-19 Outbreak".

By analyzing the dilemma of global economy caused by the COVID-19 and the black-hole effect brought by external and internal conflicts, Professor Zhang Jiawei concluded that the outbreak's impact on catering, tourism, entertainment, performing arts, and other industries all had the feature of "spreading gradually from downstream to upstream". Besides, influenced by factors like domestic situation, terminal market and the re-balancing of global supply chain, the industry's recovery will be slow and time-consuming, and the theme of today's world still is peace and development. So Chinese enterprises should seize the current opportunities to fully integrate into the new global division of labor and market. The lecture was viewed online by nearly 800 people. They said that after the lecture, they gained a clearer understanding of the "crisis" and "opportunity" under the current situation through exploring and listening.
