On May 30, the third National Science and Technology Workers Day, the BJAST held a ceremony to celebrate the “National Science and Technology Workers Day” and the first commendation conference for outstanding scientific and technological workers. It commended 20 advanced grass-roots units, 20 outstanding scientific and technological management workers, 37 outstanding scientific and technological workers and 23 outstanding young scientific and technological workers. Xun Lianzhong, member of the Party Organization and Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, attended the conference. Wang Li, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and Vice President of the academy, read out the “Decision of BJAST on Recognizing Advanced Grass-roots Units, Outstanding Scientific and Technological Workers and Outstanding Scientific and Technological Management Workers. Vice President Liu Qingjun announced the list of recognized collectives and individuals. Leaders of BJAST and Xun Lianzhong presented awards to representatives of advanced grass-roots organizations, outstanding scientific and technological management workers, outstanding scientific and technological workers and outstanding young scientific and technological workers. On behalf of all prizewinners, the representative made a typical speech.

Xun Lianzhong affirmed the scientific and technological innovation work of our academy. He said that the Beijing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau would do a good job in policy protection, service protection and treatment protection. He hoped that the BJAST would focus on the national innovation-driven strategy to build a highland for talents gathering, a highland for science and technology innovation, a highland for industry leading, a highland for science popularization and a highland for cultural dissemination.

Guo Guangsheng extended his high respect and festival greetings to the vast number of scientific and technological workers in the whole BJAST, congratulated the recognized advanced grass-roots units, outstanding scientific and technological workers and outstanding scientific and technological management workers, expressed his gratitude to the relevant government units and media that supported and helped the scientific and technological innovation work of the BJAST, and put forward requirements and ardent hopes to the vast number of scientific and technological workers that they should keep in mind their mission, make down-to-earth efforts, highlight the exemplary leadership, and forge ahead with great perseverance.

Fang Li hopes that everyone will earnestly follow the request of President Guo Guangsheng, improve their political stance, deepen the reform of the scientific and technological system, strive to improve the competitiveness of scientific and technological innovation, and create a new situation in the scientific and technological innovation work of the whole BJAST. On behalf of the Party Committee of the BJAST, Fang Li put forward the requirements of “strengthening the ideological guidance to scientific and technological workers, giving full play to the Party's ideological and political advantages and organizational advantages as well as closing ties with the masses, giving priority to ensuring the input of talents”, so as to make the BJAST’s talent team to continuously develop and grow.
