From May 29 to 30, the Future Metropolis Innovation and Development International Forum with the theme of “Connect Global Intelligence, Create the Future” was jointly sponsored by the BJAST and the Management Committee of Beijing Future Science Park Development Group, and was held during the China International Fair for Trade in Services. The Beijing Exchange Center of Science and Technology organized the event. Echoing the special exhibition of “Smart City” held by the China International Fair for Trade in Services, the forum will pool international intellectual resources, discuss the cutting-edge technologies for future urban construction, build an international cooperation platform for cutting-edge technologies for future urban construction, boost the development of Beijing's “high-grade, precision and advanced” industries, and plan and promote the construction of National Center of Science and Technology Innovation (NCSTI) from a global perspective. The forum includes a main forum, three parallel forums and a closed-door meeting. It focuses on the theme of “focusing on smart cities, promoting scientific and technological innovation, building an international cooperation and exchange platform, and creating a common future for urban development”. It is launched in various forms such as keynote speeches, open dialogues, signing ceremonies, etc. It conducts in-depth discussions and exchanges on the construction and development of smart cities and related cutting-edge technologies, taking into account both academic and applied characteristics. Nearly 300 representatives from government departments, business communities, research institutes and institutions of higher learning from China, Germany, Spain, Serbia, the republic of Korea and other countries attended the forum.

At the main forum, the BJAST signed strategic cooperation agreements with the Invest in Catalonia and the Serbian Center for the Promotion of Science respectively, reaching consensus on establishing in-depth cooperation in building an international technology transfer platform, jointly planning international exhibitions and conferences, promoting joint research and development projects, exchanges and communication of intellectual resources, etc., thus promoting the scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation of countries along The Belt and Road Initiative. Guo Guangsheng, president of the BJAST, and Marlena Markovi, second secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Sebria in Beijing, addressed the meeting. Inmaculada Vidal Farre, Innovative Director of Asia Pacific Region of the Invest in Catalonia, and Marko Krsti, Executive Director of Serbian Center for the Promotion of Science, addressed the meeting as international representatives.

Wu Hequan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and other authoritative experts and leading figures in the field of smart cities at home and abroad delivered speeches at the forum and put forward valuable suggestions for the future construction of smart cities.

Three parallel forums were held in the Beijing Future Science Park Development Group. Chinese and foreign experts from the government, universities, research institutes and enterprises conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on the direction of “innovative application of smart city construction”. The forum was widely recognized and widely reported by the media. Guo Guangsheng's speech was published in the People's Daily, and the signing ceremony and other pictures were broadcast in the CCTV News. Both the main forum and the parallel forum were reported by Beijing Media Network. Many network media publicized the forum from various angles. At the same time, the activity was named “the best conference activity of China International Fair for Trade in Services” after being selected by the Organizing Committee of China International Fair for Trade in Services and voted by the general audience. The convening of the forum not only enhanced international scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges, gathered international intelligence and provided suggestions for the development of the future science city, but also further deepened the cooperation between the BJAST and the Management Committee of the Beijing Future Science Park Development Group.
