     Beijing Museum of Natural History is the first large-scale comprehensive natural science museum since the founding of China. With a building area of 24,000 square meters and an exhibition area of 10,000 square meters, the working fields of the Museum includes: ancient life, modern life, scientific study in anthropology, specimen collection and science popularization etc. It has been honored as “National Education Base for Science Popularization”, “Youth Education Base of Beijing Municipality” and “Excellent Patriotic Education Base of Beijing Municipality” consecutively, leading an important role in youth science popularization and patriotic education.    

       With an area of 3600 square meters, the specimen building is the largest and most comprehensive one of the same kinds in China with most complete functions and utility value. The number of specimens has reached over 200 thousand, including not only great dinosaur fossils, but also little birds and invertebrates, like Sinornis santensis, the Confuciusornis, Platybelodon, dinosaur eggs pandas etc. The specimens of animals, ancient life and humans are complete and some are the only ones left in the world. Inside the museum, there are now four basic displays of ancient life, plants, animals and humans. The present exhibition topics are “dinosaur world”, “beauty of the animals”, “treasures of the museum”, “fancy world” and “micro life”.
