On March 5th, Xu Qiang, secretary of the leading party member’s group of Beijing Municipal Science and the Technology Commission and Management Committee of Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park, and director of the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission, and Yang Renquan, member of the leading party member’s group of Beijing Municipal Science and the Technology Commission and Management Committee of Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park, and deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission , visited the BJAST for investigation and discussion. Fang Li, secretary of the leading party members’ group of the BJAST, Zheng Huanmin, president of the BJAST, and Wang Li, the deputy secretary and deputy president of the BJAST, attended the forum. The meeting was chaired by Zheng Huanmin.

At the meeting, Wang Li introduced the construction and operation status and main results of BJAST Think Tank since its establishment. The two parties exchanged views on the results of cooperation between the soft science units of BJAST in supporting the formulation of major legal policy documents of the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission in recent years. Participants expressed that they will continue to strengthen cooperation in the future.

Zheng Huanmin pointed out that the BJAST will be based on its own resource endowments, further focus on functional positioning, combine the advantages of stock with the shortcomings of Beijing's “high-grade, precision and advanced” industries, match the industrial layout of the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission in terms of incremental investment, form close cooperation with the BJAST’s science and technology innovation projects and talent development projects, etc. It also takes the construction of a new type of scientific and technological innovation think tank as a breakthrough point for actively integrating into the construction of the International Science and Technological Innovation Center during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.

Fang Li hoped that in the future cooperation with the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, the BJAST could integrate into the construction of the International Science and Technology Innovation Center, undertake major national and Beijing scientific research projects, build a new type of science and technology innovation think tank, improve the construction of systems and mechanisms, and introduce high-level talents to forge outstanding teams, strengthen international and regional scientific and technological innovation cooperation and exchanges, successfully organize the ZGC Forum, and connect international and regional scientific and technological innovation resources in response to “high-grade, precision and advanced” industries and key core technical issues.

Xu Qiang said that the BJAST has achieved certain results in basic research in recent years, and he hoped that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the BJAST can locate the target and focus on national experiments in the process of building an International Science and Technology Innovation Center, focus on national laboratories and new in-depth research on the model and mechanism of the institutional construction, undertake major tasks, play the role of the BJAST on the efficient connection of the capital’s high-precision industrial chain and innovation chain, leverage the advantages of soft scientific research to build a platform for gathering and training innovative talents and provide high-level talent support for the construction of the International Science and Technology Innovation Center.
