On the afternoon of March 1st, the Intellectuals Association of the BJAST convened the second council conference of the first council. Wang Li, deputy secretary of the leading party member’s group of BJAST, attended the meeting. Yi Tong, president of the Intellectuals Association of the BJAST and director of the Beijing Research Center for Science of Science, presided over the meeting.

The meeting reviewed and approved the order of rotating chairmen. The three vice-chairmen Li Gongyue, Liu Weili, and Guo Shirui will serve as rotating chairmen in 2021, 2022, and 2023 respectively. The establishment of four professional committees for public welfare technology, industrial technology, science and technology think tanks, and popular science communication, and the candidates for the directors and secretary-generals of the special committees have also been reviewed and approved. Subsequently, under the chairmanship of Li Gongyue, the rotating chairman, directors discussed the main work plan for 2021.

Finally, Wang Li pointed out that the work of the Intellectuals Association should highlight the following aspects: The first is the work of the service center, focusing on the key tasks of the 14th Five-Year Plan and reform and development of the State, Beijing and the BJAST, combined with the construction of the Beijing International Science and Technology Innovation Center, and giving full play to the advantages of various special committees, and carrying out work in the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. The second is to play a guiding role and lead the non-party intellectuals of the BJAST to jointly contribute to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the construction of the four centers in Beijing, especially the reform, innovation and development of the BJAST. The third is to actively participate in politics and discuss politics, using the BJAST Think Tank as a platform, and use multiple channels to provide advice and suggestions for the development of the country and Beijing. The fourth is to strengthen open exchanges, absorb various talents, strengthen the team building of the association, and carry out exchanges and cooperation with other associations. The fifth is to focus on ability improvement, through learning, improve standing, expand horizons, stimulate innovation motivation, cultivate awareness of the overall situation, and improve own capabilities.
