• The National Team Training for the 2020 International Astronomy Olympiad is Held in Beijing Planetarium

  • From August 3 to 7, the national team training for the 2020 International Astronomy Olympiad (IAO) is held in Beijing Planetarium. Affected the COVID-19 pandemic, over 30 secondary school students are taught and took the examination through online way. Astronomical elites such as Curator Wang Xiaofeng of Beijing Planetarium are invited to give lectures and award-winning seniors in the previous IAO events are invited to provide guidance.

    After the training, outstanding students are selected to form a national team. Due to the pandemic, the events have been rescheduled. The International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) will be held online, with individual competitions from September 25 to 27 and team competitions from September 28 to October 12. The International Astronomy Olympiad (IAO) plans to be held online. The Asian-Pacific Astronomy Olympiad (APAO) has not yet received a notice from the Organizing Committee. The Organizing Committee of China National Astronomy Olympiad will keep an eye on international trends and organize students to participate in major international competitions as appropriate according to the latest pandemic changes.
