On October 26, BJAST held “The Inaugurating Ceremony of Research Center for Urban Ecology and Environment of Beijing Academy of Science and Technology and Academic Forum on Urban Ecology and Environment”. President Guo Guangsheng read out the founding decision and delivered a speech.

Wan Bentai, former Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Pan Yingzi, Director of the Department of Environmental Impact Assessment and Emission Management of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of PRC, Zhang Guanglian, Deputy Director of Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission, Zhang Yingjian, Deputy Director of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Environmental Protection, Xie Wei and Shao Jinwen, Vice Presidents of BJAST, and other leaders attended the meeting.

Guo Guangsheng pointed out that the establishment of the center is of great significance for carrying out scientific research in the field of ecological environment, research and development of key generic technologies, demonstration application and transformation of achievements and promoting the construction of ecological civilization in the capital. In the future, the center shall earnestly study and implement the spirit of the national and Beijing municipal conferences on ecological environment protection and push Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization to take root in Beijing. Also, it shall closely focus on the needs of the municipal party committee and the municipal government, take system and mechanism innovation as the driving force, actively integrate into the “main battlefield” for the construction of ecological civilization, gather strength in the development pattern of serving for the capital, provide strong support for the construction of urban ecological environment in the capital and even Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, make efforts to become the main force and vanguard of the construction of ecological civilization and write a new chapter of science and technology for Beijing to build a beautiful environment with bluer sky, greener mountains and clearer water.

Pan Yingzi, Zhang Yingjian, Deputy Director of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Environmental Protection, and Zhang Guanglian, Deputy Director of Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission, delivered speeches respectively.

At the Academic Forum on Urban Ecology and Environment, Wan Bentai, former Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Professor Zhao Tingning of Beijing Forestry University and Jiang Lin, Researcher of Beijing Municipal Research Institute of Environmental Protection made reports separately.
